Karen S. Walz FAICP, Principal - Strategic Community Solutions

Karen S. Walz FAICP is the Principal in Strategic Community Solutions, a professional consulting firm that provides clients with creative, practical products that help build successful and sustainable communities. Ms. Walz brings 30 years of professional analysis, community involvement and policy recommendation expertise to her projects. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Earth Sciences from Stanford University and a Master of City and Regional Planning from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Ms. Walz is the Immediate Past President of the Greater Dallas Planning Council, a civic group that is a forum and an advocate for quality growth in the Dallas region.  She was President of the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association from 2001 to 2003. Numerous awards and commendations have been given in recognition of her work, including selection as an Honorary Member of the Texas Society of Architects and an Honorary Member of AIA Dallas. She was inducted as a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners in April 2006.

Ms. Walz works with communities on the East and West coast, as well as Texas, the Midwest and Western U.S. These communities range from towns with a population of a few thousand to cities with over one million residents and counties covering 13,000 square miles. Her clientele ranges from public to private and non-profit. Ms Walz has been involved with the planning and design of the Trinity River Corridor Project since 1994 and continues to lend her expertise to The Trinity Trust Foundation and the Texas Horse Park, Inc.
