Paul Allen, Director

Paul Lawrence Allen is the President of the Dallas County Buffalo Soldiers where he works tirelessly to empower young people through education and inspiration. Mr. Allen has served in various capacities in the Dallas County Juvenile Detention center since 1981. Currently, he provides leadership to juvenile detention officers as a Supervisor in the Group Worker program. From 1971 – 1981, Mr. Allen served as a Dallas Police Officer and then, specifically, as a Community Service Officer. During this time, Mr. Allen was instrumental in acting as a liaison between the community and the Police Department and developing strategies for effective communication among adversary groups. Mr. Allen also developed and organized a program for the prevention, treatment, education and intervention of drug abuse among young people. He has been honored in numerous publications for his work with youth and the Buffalo Soldiers. Mr. Allen also served a tour of duty in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bishop College, an Associate Degree in Integrated Social Science from El Centro College and is currently a candidate for a Master of Science degree in Human Relations and Management at Abilene Christian University.
