The development of a world-class equestrian center is underway in the heart of the nation and slated to open in 2009. In November 2006, Dallas voters approved the balance of over $14.5 million in bonds allowing the City, as a collaborative partner, to move a step closer to making the Texas Horse Park a reality.

The Texas Horse Park is designed to host national and international equestrian competitions, provide miles of beautifully preserved riding trails for the public, and offer educational and recreational opportunities through its community outreach programs. It will benefit the city and citizens of Dallas, economically and recreationally, as well as provide a unique destination for world travelers.

Preliminary architectural renderings of the Texas Horse Park’s facilities include covered and uncovered competition arenas; extensive warm-up areas; permanent shed-row barns; space for temporary stalls; cross country courses from beginner novice through advanced levels; and a combined driving course. A separate area will house a community outreach center, school of horsemanship and boarding facilities.

The Texas Horse Park will be one of the southern anchors of Dallas’ Trinity River Corridor Project, a $1.9 billion public works project that will create one of the world’s largest urban parks, revitalizing a 20-mile stretch of river; creating two downtown recreational lakes and a whitewater run; and promoting the development of an urban community of promenades, retail, and residences.
